A Look Back - 2007 NFL Draft

Filed in archive NFL Draft by Kyle Smith on April 25, 2008

As we prepare to take in the all-consuming event known as the NFL Draft, let's travel way back in time ... to last year's draft, and see what the very early returns are on the first-round picks.

1) Oakland: QB JaMarcus Russelllinks - After not signing until mid-September, Russell saw little action, throwing 2 TD's, 4 picks and accumulating a passer rating of 55.9.

2) Detroit: WR Calvin Johnson (pictured) - Battled nagging injuries, and showed little of what made people so excited about him, but still caught 48 passes for over 700 yards and 4 TD's.

3) Cleveland: OT Joe Thomas - Started for Cleveland at left tackle and made the Pro Bowl.

4) Tampa Bay: DE Gaines Adams - After a slow start, Gaines was second on the team with 6 sacks.

5) Arizona: OT Levi Brown - Started 11 games for the Gridbirds in 2007.

6) Washington: S LaRon Landry - Gathered 95 tackles for the Skins, but didn't have any INT's until the playoffs.

7) Minnesota: RB Adrian Peterson - Terrorized defenses with a Pro Bowl campaign featuring over 1,300 rushing yards and 12 TD's.

8) Atlanta: DE Jamaal Anderson - Did very little, with 30 tackles, but zero sacks or tackles for loss.

9) Miami: WR Ted Ginn Jr. - Not a popular pick locally, Ginn caught 34 balls for 420 yards and 2 TD's, and also averaged nearly 10 yards per punt return with one score.

10) Houston: DT Amobi Okoye - Very solid year saw him gather 5.5 sacks.

11) San Francisco: LB Patrick Willis - The third Pro Bowl player among the top 11 selections, he had 174 tackles, 4 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss.

12) Buffalo: RB Marshawn Lynch - Good initial campaign, rushing for over 1,100 yards and 7 TD's.

13) St. Louis: DT Adam Carriker - Improved steadily at DT and would up with 30 tackles, 2 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.

14) NY Jets: CB Darrelle Revis - A nice season saw Revis collect 87 tackles with 3 picks.

15) Pittsburgh: LB Lawrence Timmons - Though he played in every game, Timmons wound up with a paltry 13 tackles, and nothing more.

16) Green Bay: DT Justin Harrell - Playing in just 7 games, Harrell had 16 tackles.

17) Denver: DE Jarvis Moss - Moss gathered only 12 tackles with 1 sack, and 2 tackles for loss.

18) Cincinnati: CB Leon Hall - The former Michigan corner had a very good rookie year, leading the Bengals with 5 interceptions, and was second with 12 passes defended.

19) Tennessee: S Michael Griffin - Griffin started 10 games, with 54 tackles, 7 passes defended and 3 interceptions.

20) NY Giants: CB Aaron Ross - Ross was a key contributor to N.Y.'s defense, with 42 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 9 passes defended and 3 picks, returning one for a touchdown.

21) Jacksonville: S Reggie Nelson - Nelson was yet another in a solid group of rookies in the secondary. He led the Jags with 5 INT's and 11 defended passes while piling up 62 tackles.

22) Cleveland: QB Brady Quinn - Sitting behind Derek Anderson, Quinn did not accomplish much, throwing for just 45 yards.

23) Kansas City: WR Dwayne Bowe - K.C. got a big return on their investment in Bowe, who hauled in 70 catches for 995 yards and 5 touchdowns.

24) New England: S Brandon Meriweather - Meriweather didn't start any games, though he played in all 16, and as the lone member of the draft still in New England, he made 27 tackles.

25) Carolina: LB Jon Beason - Beason had a fabulous rookie season, leading the Panthers with 140 tackles, and was the only player on the team with at least 100.

26) Dallas: DE/OLB Anthony Spencer - A solid contributor, Spencer started 6 games, and collected 3 sacks and 36 tackles.

27) New Orleans: WR Robert Meachem - Meachem literally did nothing, and has yet to play in an NFL game due to injury.

28) San Francisco: OT Joe Staley - Staley started 16 games for the Niners at right tackle.

29) Baltimore: OG Ben Grubbs - Playing in 16 games, Grubbs started 12 of them.

30) San Diego: WR Craig Davis - Fifth on the team with 20 receptions, the speedster had a disappointing 9.4 yards per catch, and tallied under 200 receiving yards with one touchdown.

31) Chicago: TE Greg Olsen - Splitting time with Desmond Clark, Olsen had a pretty nice year, with 39 catches for 391 yards and 2 touchdowns.

32) Indianapolis: WR Anthony Gonzalez - After missing a couple games with an injury, Gonzalez came on at the end of the year, finishing with 37 catches for 576 yards and 3 scores.
