The salary of assistant coaches in college football is rising nationwide and nowhere it's as much visible as it is in the SEC. University of Florida will be paying $2.74 million to its nine assistance but this does not include bonuses for SEC championship games and bowl appearances.
If this is done the amount will cross the figure of $3 million which would make it the highest paid coaching staff in Gator football history. This seems to be the rising trend of college football as they continue to fight for coaching talent.
In 2009 itself University of Florida coaches got an average rise of around $50,000 and the new contracts for all nine assistants were extend through the 2011 season.
Besides base salary, every coach is eligible for a $10,000 bonus from Nike contract and there was no buyout for assistants who intended to leave. The topper of the list is Teryl Austin with $440,000 who has been hired from the Arizona Cardinals for replacing new Louisville head coach Charlie Strong. Steve Addazio, offensive coordinator is expected to make $375,000 in 2010 and at the same time receive an additional compensation for taking over some of the duties of head coach Urban Meyer.
I am just wondering where the buck will stop!!
