BCS to remain unchanged in 2007

Wisconsin football coach Brett Bielema wasn't happy with Bowl Championship Series
officials last season. Bielema and his 12-1 Badgers were omitted from the BCS, due to one of its obscure rules -- the one that does not allow three teams from the same conference to play in BCS games.Ohio State, which entered the BCS championship game ranked number one, obviously made it. Michigan was ranked third, so it got the nod over Wisconsin, which finished the season ranked seventh.
So, Bielema and many others from Wisconsin called anyone from the BCS who would pick up the telephone to plead a very good case for his Badgers. Not surprisingly, no one listened.
Of course, the BCS got calls from Michigan, too. And plenty of them. Michigan finished its season ranked second and appeared poised for a rematch with bitter rival Ohio State in the National Championship game. Then, the BCS intervened and Florida leapfrogged Michigan, after the Gators final game of the season.
Of course, college football fans nationwide once again had the opportunity to question the BCS system, a trendy past-time, since its inception in 1998.
Each year, it seems that some sort of controversy arises over who plays for the National Championship and which team gets unjustly left out completely.
This season will be no different, as the BCS has decided to make no changes to the procedure for selecting which teams play in the series and who will make the National Championship game. Even the two-team rule that precluded Wisconson from playing a BCS game last year was not changed.
So, for at least one more year, college football teams, fans and Brett Bielema will have plenty to complain about.
