End Zone Buzz concludes its NFL's Best Series with the NFL's best head coach.
Some selections in this series were very easy, but none was easier than our best head coach — New England's Bill Belichick.
When Belichick started his head coaching career in Cleveland in 1991, it became evident quickly that the then 38-year-old coach was something special. The Browns went from 3-13 before Belichick arrived to an 11-5 playoff team in just four seasons.
When the Browns left Cleveland for Baltimore, Belichick didn't join the team, instead joining the Patriots in 1996 as defensive coordinator and helping lead the team to its first division title in 10 years and a Super Bowl berth.
Belichick left for three years, before returning to the Patriots as head coach in 2000, and New England has been the class of the NFL ever since, winning three Super Bowl titles in four seasons.
What is even more amazing than the constant winning (Belichick is 73-34 at New England) is the fact that Belichick maintains this remarkable level of play with relatively unknown players at many key positions. Some players have become stars and moved on to other teams, but the Patriots never falter.
Other than quarterback Tom Brady, New England hasn't had until now a legitimate superstar. Yet Bill Belichick always has the Patriots in the thick of a division title race.
For 32 years, Bill Belichick has been a brilliant football coach, and he is easily our selection for best nfl head coach.
