- Missouri vs. Illinois (in St. Louis), Aug. 30: A couple of top 20 teams go at it the first weekend of the season. Missouri's Chase Daniel (pictured) will start his Heisman campaign opposite Illinois QB Juice Williams in a re-match of last year's exciting Missouri victory.
- Ohio State at USC, Sep. 13: Two of the preseason's top three squads face off in maybe the most anticipated game of the season. The loser won't necessarily be out of the national championship race, although the winner may be the early favorite.
- LSU at Auburn, Sep. 20: The battle of the Tigers will answer some questions about the best team in the SEC West. Both teams are in the top 10 in preseason polls.
- Texas at Oklahoma, Oct. 11: This should be a good one as usual, with the winner likely taking the Big 12 South. It will be the toughest test for Oklahoma, a team many believe can make their way to the national championship game.
- Florida at Georgia, Nov. 1: This is a battle of SEC East squads, each of which are ranked in the top-five in preseason polls. At this stage of the season, it may be tough for the loser of this game to stay in the national championship picture.
- BYU at Utah, Nov. 22: A berth in a BCS bowl could be on the line here in the last game of the season for each team.
- West Virginia at Pittsburgh, Nov. 28: West Virginia will certainly have revenge on their minds after Pitt's stunning victory last season in Morgantown took the Mountaineers out of the national championship game. Soon after, Rich Rodriguez left for Michigan. Had West Virginia won, it's possible Rodriguez would still be there.
