As college football gets closer, it's time for EZB's first preseason Top 25.
1) Ohio State: James Laurinaitis is back at linebacker, Beanie Wells is back at running back, as is a plethora of talent at other positions.
2) Oklahoma: QB Sam Bradford should be a top contender for the Heisman.
3) Georgia: Ditto for RB Knowshon Moreno.
4) USC: Mark Sanchez takes over at QB, and if he doesn't get it done, Mitch Mustain waits in the wings.
5) Florida: Tim Tebow returns, and so do Florida's chances at another SEC title.
6) Missouri: QB Chase Daniel and WR Jeremy Maclin lead what should be one of the nation's best offenses yet again.
7) Texas: Look for the Longhorns to rebound after a sub-par year, at least for them.
West Virginia: No Steve Slaton or Rich Rodriguez, but QB Pat White remains in what will be an interesting team to watch as it makes a transition to new coach Bill Stewart.
9) Clemson: The Tigers have a very good threesome in QB Cullen Harper, WR Aaron Kelly and RB C.J. Spiller.
10) Wisconsin: P.J. Hill is back at running back, but their defense will be the key to a successful season.
11) Tennessee: The starters at receiver and offensive line are back, and QB Jonathan Crompton likely takes over for Erik Ainge at QB.
12) Auburn: The Tigers are implementing a new spread offense, led by offensive coordinator Tony Franklin.
13) LSU: This team lost a lot, including the guy who was supposed to be their QB, Ryan Perrilloux. They also lost their defensive coordinator in Bo Pelini, now head coach at Nebraska. But they still have loads of talent.
14) Illinois: QB Juice Williams will have to lead the offense now, and he needs to become a more accurate passer to be one of the elite.
15) Texas Tech: Everybody's preseason favorite to really make noise. We know they'll score, but can they get they get the job done on defense?
16) Arizona State: Rudy Carpenter is back at QB, as coach Dennis Erickson tries to at least match last season's 10-3 record.
17) BYU: Most analysts believe they will be the ones to get the at-large BCS bid.
18) Oregon: Replacing Dennis Dixon and Jonathan Stewart won't be easy, but Oregon always seems to be right there at the end.
19) Virginia Tech: Prediction – Tyrod Taylor will take over full-time at quarterback by game three.
20) Penn State: If they can stay out of jail, the Nittany Lions will compete in the Big Ten.
21) Boston College: Their defense will lead the way. It'll have to, as the team lost QB Matt Ryan.
22) Kansas: Todd Reesing returns at QB to try and keep Kansas among the top 25, but they have a much more difficult schedule this year than they had last season.
23) Wake Forest: QB Riley Skinner will try to lead the Demon Deacons to their third straight winning season. Which has never happened in the history of ACC play.
24) Fresno State: If BYU isn't the at-large for the BCS, the Bulldogs may be.
25) Rutgers: Losing RB Ray Rice hurts, but they should still contend for the Big East crown.
