College Football's Top 5 Returning RB's

Filed in archive College Football by Kyle Smith on July 3, 2008

A look at the top 5 returning running backs for the upcoming college football season.

- Ian Johnson, Boise State: It seems like he's been around forever, but Johnson will be back for one more year. He was in the top 15 in the nation with 16 rushing TD's last season.

- Knowshon Moreno, Georgia: Moreno is in the picture for the Heisman after rushing for the second-most yards in the SEC with over 1,300, and scoring 14 rushing TD's and catching 20 passes.

- DeMarco Murray, Oklahoma: Murray was ninth in the Big 12 in rushing yards despite splitting carries. He wound up with 13 rushing TD's, good for fourth in the conference, and ran for over six yards per carry.

- LeSean McCoy, Pittsburgh: Behind only Ray Rice in the Big East in rushing yards per game with 110, McCoy was in the top 25 nationally in both rushing yards and rushing TD's as a freshman.

- Damion Fletcher, Southern Mississippi: His nearly 1,600 yards were fourth in Conference USA, but he was behind top draft choices such as Kevin Smithlinks and Matt Forte. His yardage did place him in the top 15 nationally, and his 15 rushing TD's were among the top 20 in college football.
