Stop the presses, and hold the phone. It seems that several top NFL draft prospects have smoked marijuana.

Calvin Johnson, Gaines Adams and Amobi Okoye, all expected to be high selections in the 2007 nfl draftlinks, have admitted that they smoked pot, at some time in their lives.

Is it just me, or might this just be the most blatantly-obvious declaration, since Noah looked up and said, it looks like rain?

What college athlete hasn't taken a few hits of what Jim Rome affectionately calls the hippie lettuce? It's just amazing that more players don't drop a casual, "Yeah, I toked up," when asked about their recreational drug use.

What's the big deal? Will this wreck their draft status? Not likely.

Sure, the NFL and new commissioner Roger Goodell are trying to tighten up what has been a remarkably loose ship, and the last thing the NFL needs is more Ricky Williams's lacing up shoulder pads.

Johnson, Adams and Okoye, though, are young kids, who probably had too much fun at a few parties. They are world-class athletes, embarking on what should prove to be tremendous NFL careers.

Worrying about a few hits on a joint is just being overly-concerned.

Smoking marijuana is wrong and will get players booted out of the NFL. It's most likely in these players' pasts, and NFL coaches and GMs should just forget it.
