With only one game left until the end of the college football season, and the NFL playoffs in full swing, many fans are beginning to think about the NFL draft. Players have started to declare their intentions to enter the draft, and here is a quick rundown of some of the most prominent names to have declared so far.
- Defensive End Calais Campbell, Miami: Campbell has great size, but struggled a bit this year after a great sophomore campaign. He went from 10.5 sacks last year to 6.5 this year on a Hurricanes team that went 5-7.
- Running Back Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois: Mendenhall made a huge splash this year, becoming the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, and leading the conference with nearly 1,700 rushing yards. Mendenhall was the key cog in a rushing attack that helped the Illini go from two wins last season to the Rose Bowl this season.
- Tight End Martellus Bennett, Texas A&M: Bennett is one of the premier tight ends in the nation, as he proved with his 49 catch, 587 yard effort this season. On an Aggies team that relied heavily on the running game, Bennett was the main target when they aired it out.
- Defensive End Derrick Harvey, Florida: Though Harvey's numbers were down a bit from last season, he still put together a good campaign. He managed 8.5 sacks on the season, including two against Michigan in the Gators' bowl game.
- Offensive Tackle Ryan Clady, Boise State: A mountain of a man, Clady is 6'6", 315 pounds and considered one of the two or three best OT prospects, along with Michigan OT Jake Long.
- Running Back Jamaal Charles, Texas: Charles led the Big 12 in rushing, had seven games of at least 120 yards rushing and five over 150, including a 296 yard effort against Nebraska. Charles scored a TD in each game but two, and ended up with 18 on the season.
