Fantasy Football 2007 Review

The 2007 fantasy football season is coming to a close, which means you'll have to find another way to waste occupy your time at work. Let's review the season with a look at the good, bad, and unexpected.

MVP - QB Tom Brady: No matter what scoring system your league uses, it's a virtual certainty that Brady had the most points. He is having one of the greatest seasons in football history, with a 6-1 touchdown (48) to interception (8) ratio. On top of that, he got you a few points with more than 100 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Biggest Disappointment - RB Reggie Bush: Bush was a first-round pick in many fantasy drafts, and he failed to live up to those expectations, hindering many fantasy owners' seasons. Running the ball, Bush was 35th in the NFL with 581 yards, behind such stalwarts as Selvin Young, Derrick Ward, Ron Dayne and kennylinks Watson. On top of that, he tied Kurt Warner for most fumbles, with seven, which was one more than his six offensive touchdowns. His 73 catches were nice in a points-per-reception league, but his 417 receiving yards were good for a paltry 5.7 yards per catch.

The Back From the Dead award - RB Jamal Lewis Randy Moss is a prime candidate for this award, but there were many people who believed that he would right himself after being paired with Brady and Bill Belichick. What nobody saw coming was the resurgence of Jamal Lewis in Cleveland. He was seventh in the NFL in rushing, and compiled nine rushing touchdowns. This, from a back nearly everybody proclaimed was washed up. His replacement in Baltimore, Willis McGahee, had 31 more rushing yards than Lewis, but a lower yards-per-carry average and fewer rushing TD's.

The Out of Nowhere Running Back award - Ryan Grant and Earnest Graham: It happens every year, and 2007 was no exception. Along the way, a starting runner will get hurt or underperform, and a previously unknown runner will step right in and exceed all expectations. This year, Grant and Graham were those guys, placing 19th and 20th in rushing yards, respectively, with a combined 17 rushing TD's.
