Kenny Peterson suspended four games for steroid use

Is there a stupidity epidemic in the National Football League? Yet another player, Broncos defensive end Kenny Peterson, has been unceremoniously booted for four games for steroid use.
What does it take for these knuckleheads to figure out that they can't use banned substances? For the guys making a gozillion dollars yearly, the four-game suspension without pay is not so punitive. For a guy like Peterson, who makes only $595,000, the 140k he'll lose might just hurt enough to knock some sense into him.
Maybe it's time for the league to increase the punishment. Perhaps if these guys were kicked out of half a season on the first offense, they'd think twice about cheating.
Hopefully, new commissioner Roger Goodell will give it some heavy thought.
