Our division by division look at team needs continues with the NFC North.

Green Bay Packers

Obviously the team has great overall talent, which led them to a 13-3 record and NFC championship game berth. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't get even better, though whether or not they do probably remains firmly on the back of Brett Favre and his ability to have another outstanding year. Still, they released tight end Bubba Franks, and are aging a bit at corner, with 33-year-old Al Harris and 31-year-old Charles Woodson. Ryan Grant was a great pick up at running back, but he did it for only half a year. Are they confident he's their guy? Mainly, though, the Packers just need depth.

Needs: TE, CB, RB, OL

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are great at running the ball and stopping the run, but struggle with the ball in the air. They were 14th in the NFC in offensive passing, and last in the NFC against the pass on defense. What the Vikings need to do better is hit on their first-round draft picks. They traded former seventh overall pick and enormous bust WR Troy Williamson, and haven't gotten much in terms of pass rush out of defensive ends and first round picks Erasmus James and Kenechi Udeze. Unfortunately, Udeze has been diagnosed with a form of leukemia, so his status is unknown.

Needs: WR, DE, QB, CB

detroit lions

The Lions started like gangbusters at 6-2, only to wind up 8-8. GM Matt Millen remains, so his not-so-magic touch will have a hand in any acquisitions the team makes. And clearly, they need defensive help. Lots of it, not to mention offensive line help. QB Jon Kitna nearly had his head fall completely off his body numerous times since he got hit so much, though part of that obviously comes with the territory in a Mike Martz offense. But their main goal should be to replenish the defense, as every position needs improvement.

Needs: OL, DL, LB, CB/S

Chicago Bears

The Rex Grossman experiment continued last season until he was finally benched. Though they re-upped him for the 2008 season, not many believe he is realistically going to be the franchise QB they desperately need, and have needed for quite some time. Unfortunately, they probably also need a running back, since former top five draft pick Cedric Benson is softer than baby wipes, and they traded Thomas Jones to the Jets. WR Bernard Berrian is a free agent, and if they do not re-sign him, they will need to invest in that position because Muhsin Muhammad is gone as well. Despite their fall from grace on defense in 2007, the Bears should be relatively okay there, though with LB Lance Briggs gone in free agency, that is at least one position they will need to fill.
