NFL considering 17th game
Filed in archive by Mark Barnes on May 12, 2007

Each NFL team would play 17 regular-season games, with one preseason game being eliminated. The interesting twist is that this 17th game will be played in a foreign country.
With growing interest abroad in professional football, the NFL is experimenting this season with a regular-season game being played in London. Miami will play the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium this season.
Rather than have a few teams play overseas, while sacrificing a home game, the NFL is considering this extra game for all teams, so no one has to lose the advantage of home field.
Although the NFL is considering any setbacks to this new schedule before rushing into it, there are many obvious benefits, not the least of which is the added financial gains.
For rabid NFL Football
fans, the biggest advantage is one less meaningless exhibition game and one more opportunity to watch a game that counts. What could be better than one more week of football?
