If you're watching a New England Patriots game this season and you spy an old guy on the sidelines, who looks a bit odd in shoulder pads and cleats, you might just be looking at one of the greatest linebackers to ever play in the NFL.
Junior Seau has decided to play an 18th season, in search of that ever-elusive Super Bowl ring.
After he broke his arm in a game last November, most football people believed Seau would retire.
There's just something about the lure of a championship for some guys, though. Seau, who has over 1,600 tackles in his brilliant career, will have as good a chance at that ring as any other geezer in the league, as the Patriots have added to what was already a great team.
Even though New England needs another Super Bowl title about as much as Mike Vick needs more bad press, it would be nice to see a 38-year-old star like Seau leave as a champion.
