So Why Does The NFL Get A Free Pass Concerning Steroids, Again?
Filed in archive NFL on January 18, 2008
As Congress wrapped up yet another grandstanding session concerning performance-enhancing drug (PED) use this week, Major League Baseball grabbed the spotlight once again while the NFL continues to slide under the radar of both the fans and media.
It is interesting that the NFL gets so little attention while it's counterpart in sports gets crushed. Of course, MLB made it's own bed and must lie in it, but it's not like the NFL is completely pure. How natural do people think it really is for men to be that large and that fast?
And the list of MLB players suspended has relative few big names in it compared to those caught in the NFL. Some of the game's best players, like Luis Castillo, Shawn springs, Rodney Harrison and Shawn Merriman have all been caught and served suspensions for PED use.
Maybe it's because the NFL has been testing since 1989, or maybe it's because the players wear masks, or maybe people are just naive, but to think everything is pure in the NFL is foolish. Then again, it's possible people just don't care and want to see the biggest collisions by the biggest, fastest men out there.
