Tomlinson is best NFL player to build around

Okay, we'll admit it; the idea for this blog came from an article at ESPN.com -- the start to a very interesting series, actually.
So, since we think the folks at ESPN.com often have good story ideas, but lousy opinions, we decided to jump in with our own "Best of the Best" series.
So, like ESPN.com, we'll kick off with the best player to begin an NFL franchise; only we'll give you the right choice.
It doesn't get any easier than this. We'll go with the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player, LaDainian Tomlinson.
The San Diego Chargers running back is the quintessential offensive weapon.
Tomlinson is coming off one of the greatest single seasons in NFL history. He totaled over 2,300 yards of offense and scored a record 31 touchdowns. Tomlinson scored at least two touchdowns in eight straight games, making him a fantasy football owner's dream.
Tomlinson has over 9,000 yards rushing in just six NFL seasons to go with just under 3,000 receiving yards. He averages 4.5 yards per carry and 7.3 per reception. Tomlinson can throw, too; he has tossed six touchdown passes in 10 attempts, including two in his MVP season.
LaDainian Tomlinson is the most devastating weapon the NFL has seen since Marshall Faulk.
Tomlinson can pound
away at a defense with 150 yards on 30 carries, or he can break your heart with a lightening-quick 80-yard scamper.Start your team with LaDainian Tomlinson, and you're on your way to a Super Bowl.
