Urlacher fine defines NFL

The "No Fun League," or NFL for people out of the know, is at it again.
The NFL, which seems to pride itself on punishing its players for harmless acts, fined chicago bears
linebacker Brian Urlacher a whopping $100,000 because he wore a hat the league didn't like during Super Bowl week.Fundamendalists will say that Urlacher knew the rule that clearly states that NFL players must wear only gear by NFL-approved sponsors. Urlacher broke the rule, when he wore a cap with the name Vitaminwater, a non-NFL company. The usual $10,000 fine was elevated to the 100k mark, because of the worldwide exposure Urlacher gave the company, during its biggest week.
So, Brian Urlacher may be a bit of an opportunist. Maybe he had a chance to make some big sponsor dollars by wearing the hat. Or maybe he was doing someone a favor; or maybe he just liked the way the hat looked on his closely-shaven dome.
No matter the reason Urlacher had for donning the Vitaminwater cap, the fine is excessive and one more clear demonstration of why the NFL has become the No Fun League.
Players can't celebrate touchdowns; they can't dance after sacking the quarterback. Heaven forbid they clap after a victory.
Now, in addition to putting the clamps on these exhibitions of exuberance, the NFL is hammering its best players with ridiculous fines for wearing a cap that doesn't have an NFL sponsor on it.
It's out of control, and it's certainlay no fun.
