Week 13 NFL Fantasy Freaks
Filed in archive Fantasy Football by Kyle Smith on November 29, 2007

Week 13 of the NFL is this weekend, so here are some (hopefully) sure bets to play on your fantasy squad.
QB Peyton Manning: Unfortunately for those who took Manning in the first or second round, he has not had his typical fantastic season, though some of that may have to do with WR Marvin Harrison being out (Harrison is questionable again this week). Manning is just 12th in the NFL in passer rating at 89.4, and only 5 QB's have thrown more interceptions than he has. However this week he goes up against Jacksonville and their 28th ranked pass defense, which is allowing nearly 250 yards per game through the air. In their first match-up, Manning completed 62% of his passes, and after a rough three game stretch, he seems to be finding his groove again. Add in to it that this game is going to be played at Indy, and Manning should put up good numbers.
RB Steven Jackson: The Rams
and their running back take on Atlanta on Sunday in possibly the worst match-up of the day. Still, Jackson should do well against a Falcons defense that allows over 123 yards rushing per game. QB Marc Bulger may be out with a concussion, and anyone who has seen back-up QB Gus Frerotte play knows that it is imperative for St. Louis to pound the ball on the ground with Jackson. The less the ball is in Frerotte's hands, the better, which should mean more carries for Jackson.RB Willie Parker: Fast Willie and the Steelers play the Bengals on Sunday at Pittsburgh. The mess of a field that resulted from Monday's downpour should be ready though, so don't worry about that. Parker already has 1,000 yards on the ground this season, though unfortunately for fantasy owners, he has scored just two touchdowns. However, one of those was against Cincinnati in week 8, a game in which Parker gained over 120 yards rushing. Expect a similar performance this week.
WR Larry Fitzgerald: As a word of caution, Fitzgerald had a sore groin (ouch!) and didn't fully participate in Cardinals practice Wednesday, but he is listed as probable and should be ready to go. And it is a good thing, because Arizona takes on the Cleveland Browns and their awful pass defense. The Browns are third to last in passing yards allowed per game, and have given up the most passing touchdowns in the NFL. Meanwhile, Fitzgerald is in the midst of an outstanding season, gaining over 90 receiving yards in 7 of his last 8 games. In fact, he has had just two games with less than 85 receiving yards, and one of those was a 74 yard effort. Fitzgerald has scored 5 touchdowns in his last 3 games and clearly is QB Kurt Warner's main target. Fitzgerald may be the best play of any single player this week.
